Becky Huddleston - Why I do what I do.

My aim is to capture the special look and and expressions that are unique to your beautiful fur babe, in a beautiful setting, in beautiful light, and create artwork for your walls that you can have forever, to remember your time together.

My start in photography goes back to film and darkrooms. My first ‘prize’ was for a black and white photo of the little girl I’m holding in the picture below. The winning photos were displayed on the mall in Washington D.C. (no internet then) and my mom came to see me accept my award. (I’m so grateful for this print.) I think I have pretty much always had a camera in hand. Always learning.

I started my journey as a pet photographer 10 plus years ago, as a volunteer at our community shelter, creating adoption photos to show the shy, the bold, the goofy, all the spectrum of characters, the untamed and the untrained, the ones who get a second chance to find an amazing human, to show them in all their beauty. And now, whether volunteering for shelters and rescue organizations, or, capturing the expressions and behaviors that are unique to your pet, I am right where I want to be.

I work mostly in a natural environment, where your pet is comfortable, and I aim to capture not just a beautiful posed portrait but also the character and spirit in unguarded moments, the subtleties, gestures, and grandness that is your best friend. The artwork that results is to make you smile every time you see it, now and forever.

Our pets deserve to be celebrated. A gorgeous portrait on the wall of your home will always provide a smile from the inside out for the celebrated and cherished times we share. I know you’ve heard it, “The only thing wrong with dogs is their lives are too short. It’s their only fault, really.”

I currently share my home with two pups, learning to love each other and be family, and a small toad that has taken up residence on my patio. I’m without cats for the first time in over 30 years.   I continue to volunteer and support my local animal shelters and your support of my work is what allows me to continue to volunteer.
